Is the screw spacing, and the mag box, and mag well length the same (Rem. 700), for both the LA, And a Mag action? Such as---.375 H & H---8MM Rem mag, or the 7mm STW. THX In advance

In either the Rem., or the Win., are the short mags (RSAUM, and WSM) built on the standard short action? Or are they a different lenght? Lenght in this case being the spacing between the action screws? THX Hawkshaw

    Hawkshaw,

    Remington only makes 3-action sizes:

    Model Seven
    Short Action 700
    Long Action 700

The long action is designed to handle the standard long action cartridges such as '06 up through the .375 H&H length. The screw spacing is the same as is the bottom metal inlet. Remington adjusts the box and the follower for cartridges.

    Best.

    Added:

The changes to be aware of though are the feed rails. The opening between the rails and slight differences in the angle will default to the original cartridge dimensions unless modified by a gunsmith. In essence, if you want to change a .30-06 action to a belted magnum such as the 7mm Rem. Mag. or the .300 Winchester Mag., the rails will have to be adjusted for feeding. The same concept will exist for expanding the action to take the longer .375 H&H and similar cartridges.

    Best.
