Confused on which gun oil to use

I am having some work done on a semi auto pistol, and the gunsmith called me today, and told me the lube I am using is too heavy. I lubed it with Rem Oil. I have Mil-Tec 1, but it claims to be a metal conditioner, not a lubricant. How about some expert opinions on the best lube for semi autos? Thanks, guys!

I like the Rig +P Stainless grease applied with a q-tip on my stainless steel guns.

Ballistol or FP10 Rig +p stainless is a very good product but Ifeel it may also be TOO HEAVY except for HIGH load area. The Fp10 is thinner and the great thing about Ballistol is it is non toxic and will not harm all metals wood or leather. so it will not harm any part of any pistol
Plus you can eat it (Ballistol) on crackers![:D]
I have some BG products that, once worked into the metal surface, will maintain lubricity for a remarkable length of time. One of the show displays consisted of an old IH tractor engine with a drop away oil pan. The engine would run for 1/2 hour at a time with the crank spinning in open air(no oil).
