I am looking for inserts for this gun,it has 22 mag. on the barrel. I was told that this means that this gun was made in the first year of production. If you have any info. on this gun or can help I would be very greatful.

Any one have/had one, if so what are your thoughts on it? How many lr rounds can be fired thru the inserts? How rare is jet ammo? Thanks.

I shoot my 6" often. With full tilt loads I wear ear plugs and muffs. No recoil but you can feel the shockwave on the whole front of your body. I'm sure I have 1000's threw the inserts. I need to finish fitting a k-22 cylinder and crane I scored for $10 so I can run without the inserts (which work fine but are slow on the reload) and it never jams with the crappy bulk packed 22 LR ammo. I mostly run cast bullets barefoot. I have a complete Lyman 310 set up with the full length case and a bullet sizer.

I have seen some factory ammo and it was way pricey for me. The proper Hornady 40 gr. .222 is on the suspended list. Brass is hard to find sometimes. Proper forming dies are a 10 die set, the 2 die set versions have a high loss rate so I have been told.

I made a fully lined flapped holster to carry it on my pistol belt. In one of the bandage carrier I use a case guard 18. 6 inserts with 22 LR HP's in the back and 6 CB's in from the mouth, plus 12 Full tilt Jets.

When I first got it I could shoot the necks off a quart beer bottle at 50 yards then shoot the rest of the bottle. I think the pistol could still do it, but my eyes these days don't allow that level of performance. However I'm on the list to get the right dominate eye fixed so there is hope.

I got mine for a song from the old guy because I'm a shooter and reloader, not a collector.

No oil, lube on cases or in the cylinder with anything approaching full load.

might still be in stock $40/c http://macsreloading.com/inventory/pbrass.html

I had 2. a matched set engraved. sold one. I also have 2 contenders in that cal. a 23in and a hex barrel standard. I also have a single shot H& R with a 24in barrel.one of my favorite cal. brass can be made from 357mag.bullets are hard to find as they are .222. IM working on a 22jet imp. using 357maximum brass. for one of my NEA's. tks hedge[:D]

Prvi Partizan and Buffalo Arms both make ammo for it but are currently suspended. If you get one I would find a K-22 cylinder like Charlie did.

I had one many years ago. I was able to get a large supply of 22 WMR bullets both HP and FMJ. These worked well in mine. I didn't use the inserts much, but when I did they worked fine. Mine was a 6 1/2" and was as accurate as I could hold it. I found the regular K-frame .38/.357 speed loaders worked well for the few days that the ground squirrels would come back up after the first atomic explosion. Remember the old caution - dry the cases completely!

Does anyone reload for it - how difficult is it to form 22 Jet cases from 357?

I have one that I acquired back in 1976. It is a 6" bbl. with the diamond grips & screw in the trigger guard, Either in 22 long rifle with the inserts or in 22 Jet it is as accurate as you can hold. I picked up six boxes of factory ammo years ago & still have them. The factory ammo is rare.

The cases can be formed from 357 but it is a lot of work!! It wasn't ten dies, more like 3 or 4 plus the two reloading die set.

I have a 6" with inserts and extra LR cylinder. The last time I shot jet ammo it was VERY hard to extract. I have several boxes of Rem factory ammo and some reloads. Don't shoot it much due to the extraction difficulty.

    I don't think a K22 cylinder will work.
The Jet cylinder and therefore the Jet LR cylinder are Magnum length.
