I just need to know how to describe this action.

I can tell it is 8mm, but not much more. I am not up on Mauser variations.

    MVC-001S.jpg

    Here is the action.

    MVC-002S.jpg

    Markings on receiver ring.

    MVC-003S.jpg

    Serial number.

    MVC-007S.jpg

    Markings on bottom of receiver.

    MVC-005S.jpg

    Rear sight.

    MVC-009S.jpg

Bolt face. I didn't clean it up any. Sorry.

I believe this is a presure test barreled action to pressure test ammo. The two large areas on the barrel would measure pressure at two locations on the barrel. It looks like a So. American county's crest, not sure of this though.

The action looks like a 1908 Brazilian. Probably chambered in 7x57mm.

It is a Brazillian artillery "spotter" gun, it is placed in a cannon barrel and fired.....we used a .50Cal. in the Army.
