savage 111 barrel swap

My first question is are the savage 110/111 pretty much the same gun. I noticed the 110 is 1/2'' longer. i have found tons of parts for the 110 but not as much for the newer 111. Wondering if they would be interchangeable.


Currently have a Savage 111 .270. Would like to find a barrel in a smaller varmit size caliber (.223, .243). Can you buy a barrel that will fit with very little adjustments? Is there certain calibers that work better since the .270 is a long actions and most small ammunitions is short action.

To go from a 270 to 223 requires a different bolt and magazine. You can go to 22-250 or 220 Swift with your bolt and the magazine might work ok (or maybe not).
