Will a MK3 barrel/receiver fit and function on a MK2 grip frame? I just hate the safety lock thing and mag safety on the MK3 series.

Those are the reasons why I won't buy a MK III. My friend is picking up a MK III next week and I'm looking foward to taking it and my MK II apart side by side. Here is a post from RugerForum.com for the mag disconnect. Great site to check out.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the magazing disconnect on the 22/45 hunter. It sounds like it is easier to put back together. If I had to send it back to Ruger for service would this cause a problem? It seems lots of people do this. I going to sould like a rookie here, (witch I am) but what will removing it do? I think it means the mag will fall right out when released but am not sure.

The easiest way is just replace the hammer bushing with a MKII bushing, part #A02505 after removing the MKIII bushing and all the parts on it except the hammer. You will find that the clips will drop free also. If ever returning for warranty, just reverse. (the bushing costs $1)

Took down my MK II 22/45 next to my friends MK III 22/45. Looks like all you would need is the MK II hammer bushing and trigger. Should also be able to use MK II magazines after the parts swap. The MK III magazine did function in my MK II. Going to swap the bushing and trigger to verify in the near future. Friend's new gun novelty should recede in a few weeks. Receivers look interchangeable and noticed the firing pin retaining pin is a hollow roll pin that doesn't come out easily like the solid pin on a MK II bolt.
