Are the Federal Arms receivers any good, could one built around that receiver make a good shooter. Will DSA parts interchange if modified later. Even if priced right would I be better off and save for a new DSA model.

IIRC Federal Arms may have issues, but they were better than hesse.

Receiver prices have doubled in the past year - may be worth getting a Century with an Imbel receiver and using that as a base for your build.

All FAL parts will interchange with the proper stuff - remember the inch/metric differences, etc. Not receiver manufacturer specific.

All the federal arms(FAC) receivers I have seen were made by Dan Coonan(of Coonan auto pistol fame), and were of very good quality. All were of type 1 metric design. Coonan or DCI should be noted somewhere in the receiver. Any in spec metric parts should work fine with one.
