CMP Garand

I would like to buy a CMP Garand.
I have the qualifications but need some information on which Garand is most desirable.
Can someone enlighten me on Grades and Manufacturer?
Keep your Powder dry and your Musket well oiled.

    Pick the one that you want the most. Only you can make up your mind on what you want. I mailed my first CMP order today. I ordered a service grade SA garand and some ammo. From what I've read here and the CMP forums the service grades recently have been very nice, better than what the descriptions would make it sound, and the best overall value. However I'm expecting the worst by not looking to recieve a beauty but I'm hoping for the best. I just mailed it and already can't wait to get it. The anticipation's going to be painful![:D]

    The ones I saw in Phoenix last year were very ugly. Not worth $495 to me. Neither were the carbines. Get a new M1A instead.

    That's what I did. I asked about the service grade vs the correct grade. Everyone that replied said the service grade was the way to go and their recent ones were very nice.

    Since you live in Pennsylvania you may sometime find yourself in the vicinity of the Ohio CMP site. You could then check out the guns available & get your own pick instead of depending on the luck of the draw. I was able to do that when they brought a truckload of them to Camp Pendelton for a match.

    I just got an E-mail from the CMP saying they had seveal hundred Krag-Jorgensons for sale. That really got me excited UNTIL I saw the descriptions & the PRICES (Whew)[V].

    Just something to think on Check garandguy.com

    Was going to buy from him but had a Bid on the auction side that i won.

    By the time you get a good stock and replace the Barrel plus the initial cost you will be above what he is sell reconditioned Garands for,

    I have been told he is good to deal with and Do know he answered my E-mail very quick.

    The service grade rifles are in great condition, mix masters. If I was to buy a Garand right now from CMP it would be the HRA service grade to shoot. If I were going to buy for furture value I would buy either one of the service grade correct offered.

    Start this post over and ask were you can get a better deal on M1 Garands. What you will find that most of the Garands you see at gun shows in stores and on line are coming from the CMP and being resold.

    CMP has some Krag rifles for sale amd by their discription these are parts rifles and can only be purchased at the stores, no mail order.

    Were you looking at the rack grade instead of the service grade? I've heard nothing but good things on the service grades.
