bert,thanks for the info on takedown sets.looking at rifles i have, cartrdge guides all look alike except 38-55. left side has a small protusion on front.

    You are quite welcome.

    Winchester somehow or another found a way around the slight difference in the cartridge guides, as they made a fair number of 2-barrel takedown sets in 38-55/30 W.C.F. (and they did not provide two sets of guides with the gun when sold).
