After looking up Indiana law..I'm still a little confused, the laws seem to be very gun owner friendly but ambiguous at the same time. My take on it as far as handguns is that the only license needed is if you want to carry/conceal. Long guns dont appear to have any restrictions provided person is 18 or over and not a documented criminal or nut.
Records are only kept for 30 days or 1 year depending on level of police authority (state v local)..

usually if you live in the same state it does not have to go thru an FFL. If you live in another state from where the gun is being purchased from, you have to go thru an FFL.

It depends upon whether it is a handgun or long gun.

It is recommended to have a bill of sale with the date, make and model of the gun, serial number, details, accessories, price, etc.

If you can, scan both driver's licenses and put on the bill of sale. Print two copies, both sign them and each gets one.
