I have a taurus 817 revolver and the sights stink. Can they be replaced. The rear one is really bad.

Most time the sights on the weapon is manufactured by a vendor, I tryed to look on the Taurus site to see what products used, most of the time they will also offer upgrades on the site.

Try sooting or carboning up the front and rear sights.

This can be done with a "smoker" that uses Calcium Carbide, a candle, or a can of Sight Black.

This way you will have maximum contrast between the sights and your target.

If I remember correctly, the 817's rear sight is just a groove cut the full length of the top strap. That's SOP for snubby revolvers due to them being designed as a concealment gun primarily intended for close range defensive purposes. Low profile, no snag sights are the name of the game for these.

If you want better sights on a revolver you'd be better off getting one at least designed as a plinker.
