As to buying a gun, Beretta vs. Glock. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

Test fire both of them if possible. Go with the one that fits you best. This is a very subjective subject, it's like asking folks what their favorite ride is. Beretta made/makes a bunch of different models, at least (3) different types in the last 20 years. Your going to have to be more specific in which Beretta Model your interested in?

I have and continue to state get what feels best to you. Just because I say X gun is the best does not mean it will be the best for you. As long as you are looking at quality guns they are going to be the same in function.

    Uhmmmm ....
Would sure help to post-up your intended use here.

Maybe hit a public range that has rentals & test-drive both types.

I would rather have a beretta! I would not buy eather! But if I had a choice only between the two, I would pick berreta in .40.

There are many kinds of Glocks and many kinds of Berettas.

By your question, I'd assume you mean the full-sized service-type Glock 17 in 9mm vs. the Beretta 92 in 9mm, which would be the most popular models from each.

The quick answer is that EACH of them are VERY good guns. Both are reliable, accurate, and are the choices of various police and military forces because of this. You can't go wrong with either one, its just a question of personal preference.

Whichever one YOU like better is the better choice.

In terms of things you should consider:

The two have totally different actions. The Glock has no external safety, and every trigger pull is similar. The Beretta has a classical double-action trigger system with a decocking safety. So unless you manually cock the hammer prior to shooting, the first trigger pull on a Beretta is going to be sort of long and heavy.

Some people don't like this, because the long trigger pull makes shooting the first shot accurately more difficult, and they don't like having to deal with two different trigger pulls. In contrast, some people (and I myself happen to be in this group) *DO* like the long double action pull as it reduces the risk of negligent/accidental discharge.

Next issue (and its an important one) is ergonomics.

The glock has a slightly unusual grip angle, and the grip is a little "boxy". Some people like it. . .some people don't. Apart from the different angle, the Beretta has a FATTER grip, and many people with smaller hands don't care for it.

Edit: Personally, I don't really care for the grip on EITHER of them! (See below). People with big hands do tend to like the Beretta, and lots of new shooters do like the Glock. Again. . .subjective.

I'd say your best bet is to try shooting each of the two of them, side by side, and see which one you like better. If you can't shoot them, at least try to HOLD them to get an idea of which feels better in your hand.

Last issue, (and you didn't ask), if you are considering the Beretta, you might check out the Czech CZ-75, which IMO is a little more friendly to the hand, and also allows you to carry cocked-and-locked (IF you want to do that).

In terms of other considerations for the Glock, lots of people rave about the Springfield XD, which is more or less similar to a Glock, but with a different grip style (copied from the CZ-75, so I've heard), and a grip safety.

If you like the idea of a Double-action gun (like the Beretta), but also like the idea of a polymer frame with a thinner grip (like the Glock), you could check out the Walther p99/Smith 99, which happens to be the gun used by the lead character in the most recent James Bond movies with Daniel Craig. This gun has adjustable grip inserts to accommodate different hand sizes, plus a fairly nice smooth double-action pull, IMO better than that on the Beretta.

Both are well made guns. I would go with a Springfield XD if it were me, but since you didn't include this excellent handgun, I would go with a Glock over a Beretta!
