I posted a question similar to this in another forum, i hope that i dont get in trouble posting in this one. My question is, A friend of mine has a cz70 pistol in a .32cal.On the slide it says vzor 70 cal 7.65 made in czechoslovakia. This gun you have to shoot like a revolver every shot, meaning either pull hammer back or pull hammer back with trigger. He says a few were made this way. I say that does not sound right to me, i think it should cock itself after firs shot.d/a. He does not beleive me. If he is correct , fine, if i am correct, what could be the problem ? thanks

Well mine recocks as it cycles. I would suspect either the slide isn't running its full length (could be weak ammo or a burr) or some worn or broken piece in the gun.

The CZ50 & CZ70 are an improved version of the Walther DA/SA design conceived by the Kratchovil brothers. The hammer should remain cocked after each shot.

Light reloads could prevent the slide from coming all the way back. It may have the wrong recoil spring (too heavy). Or, it could be a broken or worn hammer/trigger/sear that requires a gunsmith. Finding parts needed for repair could be a problem.

But, if he didn't believe you, he won't believe me.

He is shooting factory ammo. I just took the gun apart as if to clean, kinda wiped everything down and i put everything back together and I shot it.With one clip that he has i could get it to shoot and cycle for about five in a row then i would have to cock. With another clip he has it wouldnt, it would have to be cocked every shot. Something is amiss. But he does believe me now.

I have a problem with magazines for this gun. It will not feed properly if you put more than 6 rounds in magazine. Anybody with solution for this problem?

Its possible the gun could have been modified to do that, or there is just a worn out part in it. Either way its not a big deal. Numrich usually stocks replacement parts.

The gun is a traditional double action pistol. It has a manual safety/decocker, the first pull is DA and every pull after is SA, till the gun is decocked.

It looks that problem is related to bad magazine design. Local gunsmith was not able to fix problem and new magazines did not help. Some of those guns are imported from Croatia where they were in police armament during 70ties

If your using original magazines that are within spec, then the problem isn't the magazine, its your gun. If you have a buddy who has one, let him try the magazines and see if they work in his. If they do, then replace the actual mag release.

My logic tells me this, first, find another gunsmith. Second, your having the same problem with all the magazines in the same gun. Putting more than 6 rounds in each magazine causes malfunction. The more rounds in the magazine means the more the magazine weights and the more downward tension on the magazine from the extra compression on the spring. The only thing keeping the magazine from popping out of the bottom is the magazine release. If its worn, it need replaced, or possibly modified. A good gunsmith will look at this, among other possible issues.

Heres a place beside numrich you can get parts for teh CZ70 http://www.tdwsales.com/page/page/248735.htm

Magazines are for 8 rounds but when you put more than 6 last round is becoming flat with the bottom of magazine and slide is not able to load round. Same problem with two new magazines I purchased. Good idea trying different gunsmith. Thanks

This is meant to be only informational. Please take any problem gun to a gunsmith. Only a gunsmith should repair your firearm. I never had a problem with mags in a CZ 70 however they seem very pricey considering the aged plastic base pad and finding any "good quality" springs that are specific to this model are another issue. My experiences aren't great with "imported" CZ pistols a 75b model lost barrel/chamber pressure after 950 rounds and a 70 model like one you describe the hammer peened out as did the 75b model malforming the slide. Both were imported & appeared new. I feel better now that they are being made to US standards as far as the metal is concerned they are way better and I would encourage a person to buy one. The 70 model shouldn't short stroke. Your hammer should cycle with every shot cocking the hammer after the 1st pull of the trigger. This gun is not meant for double action only. Most likely someone might have put a heaver recoil spring in or one that is too long increasing the load rating probably because they had a hard time finding parts or had something laying around they thought could be substituted. ***If it has a heavy trigger pull have a gunsmith check the hammer pivot pin nut to see if it's too tight causing excessive force against the slide located under the grip panel. Perhaps the hammer/sear engagement could have wore out or been ground off if you find the gun's slide comes all the way back and the hammer rides back on the slide when released not cocking the hammer then this may be the case.
