Can anyone identify this Stevens rifle or the scope ? Scope is unmarked except for 8x and 50////over 200 yards. The scope mount is a bit strange, has a spring on the rear mount.

The scope appears to be an old Winchester 8X and I believe the mounts are correct as well, but I'd have to go look at mine to be sure.

Scope is Winchester 8x. Rifle is 44 action, I think it is a Walnut Hill that has been highly modified and refinished.

I think the action was from a Stevens Gallery model because of the two screws on the left side of the receiver that are not in use. The original sight for the gallery used these two screws for a sight that went up and over the receiver. This model originally was in 22 short and was a very accurate gun!
    IMHO
