Does anybody have a strong opinion about this rifle?

I was thinking of getting a 783 in 308 or 30/06 and was wondering if anyone had any pros or cons to it. I have a 700 in .243 and like it but want something a little bigger.

    Thanks

Have not had one in my hands to see how good it is put together.

I like the old 700's. 30-06 would be choice and I would load for it as a rule.

I most likely would look for a good, used Remington 700, or Winchester Model 70. There were a lot of problems with the predescessors of the 783, the models 710, 715, and 770. It also percieved that Remington was not changing much, other than the model number, to solve their quality issue.

I hope that the 783, is not an extension of that, but would be "gun shy"(pun intended), of buying one.

I would look at a Savage 110/111 package gun first.
