I recently purchased a S&W 30-1. It is chambered in .38 Special. I have never seen a 30-1 in .38. Did S&W ever make one? Has the barrel and cylinder been changed? Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a SW 5in 38 special nickel plated pearl handle revolver that was made in 1910. I do not see a model number listed on the gun. I wrote to SW and they would only tell me the year that it was made. In excellent shape. Any idea of a rough asking price.

I was just given a S&W revolver and I'm wanting to know when It was made. One side of the barrel says smith & Wesson, the other side says 38 S&W CTG, the top of the gun right after the hammer says 8 us property GHD, and the serial number on the bottom of the handle is
    657380. the cylinder has a V, and a P.
I think its a victory model because of the (V) but still i could be wrong, and id rather hear from someone who knows more than me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    No & I don't know.

You failed to post photos for us & you didn't give us the SN of the gun. You also did not measure the length of the cylinder. So, all we can do is guess.

The -1 revision was on the J-frame (rather than the I-frame or improved I-frame), so, theoretically it's possible that someone converted it to .38 spec. I think it's more likely that a M36 was mis-stamped.

    I think the 30 was a 32 S&W the 31 was a 32 S&W Long

    I think the 32 and 33 were 38 S&W.

    And the 33 was a 5 shot 38 special was't it ? Sounds like a mis-mark.
