According to this site. It's a Safari grade rifle dating to 1959.

Browning serialization is a can of worms though. Nothing is as it seems. Until they transferred manufacturing to Japan in the mid 70's, serialization was a mess, with numbers and letters transposed.

Supposedly After 1960, a single numeral was placed between the model identifying letter and the actual serial number. Being that yours doesn't have this number. My WAG is that it dates to 1959.

thanks a lot. gun is very light weight and has the most narrow barrel Ive ever seen on a high powered rifle, just 1/2 inch across. wood doesent seem to be high grade but checking is deluxe. crossbolt has flower petal engraving. floorplate and trigger guard has gold inlay engraving. maybe that can help on the grade of the rifle, thanks

Browning had ( 3 ) rifle grades. Safari, Medallion and Olympian. Go to GOOGLE images, and see if you can match your rifle. Being it's an old rifle, the checkering and engraving might not be factory original?
