remmy XP100

here in the uk, we are very limited to the pistols as the overall length has to be 24" , we use Taurus & Buckmarks, with an added arm rest . I saw these & wondered what the accuracy is like, as I am after a new pistol to conform to our laws, with the XP length it may just slot in there.

whats your thoughts ?

    XP100 accuracy?

    One word: Phenomenal.

OK, now, more to the story. I've had several. .221, .223, and .35 Rem. All extremely (sub MOA)accurate. Even the .35 rem.

One of these got the full treatment. HS Precision stock, Canjar set trigger, Shilen select match barrel in .250 Savage (14"), and a Leupold 24X rifle scope.

1st (4) test loads with this pistol, all using Sierra Matchking bullets, were all under 3/8" 5 shots at 100 yards. 2 of the loads were in the 1/4" group range.

This was essentially a one handed benchrest rifle. Sold this to a customer that smacked a black bear in the chest with a 100 grain spitzer. Dropped it right there.

    XP's are amazing.

I had a 221 Fireball, it would shoot better than you can hold it. Make sure you understand the 600 Remington series trigger/safety issues. A 7mm08 in one would be about ideal IMHO.

I have a few custom built XP-100's that will out shoot a lot of rifles...
Pop a heavy short (18") barrel on one of them and you'll be amazed at the outcome...

Like has been stated, the accuracy, can be expected to be well within 1MOA or better, if properly set up, and with the right person behind the trigger.

At the first ever Long Range Pistol tournament at Ben Avery Range north of Phoenix in October 1998, guess which pistol dominated. Go on, guess.[;)]

    I'll guess. Thompson Center Encore pushing a 7mm International[;)][;)][:D]

Seriously. In the early days of these, I was privileged to get to shoot a 7mm BR in onean XP-100. I didn't do so hot with it, but the guy that owned it did. Easily sub-moa. In this case it was one slightly enlarged hole @ 100 yds.

I recall that at least one competitor at Avery was shooting a TC. I don't remember which cartridge, but I do remember that he did very well with it. I've owned a couple of TCs over the years and used them for prairie dog shooting in Montana. They now belong to one of my grandsons.

Oh some of those handguns in England is crazy. Like those Ruger GP(or was it SP?) 100 with like a yard stick for a barrel [:D]. Something the Joker from Batman would pull out of his pants.

I do like the XP100 but I want one for the lefty so I don't have to lose my grip to chuck and reload. I know I can just buy a TC but the XPs looks sexier. Now only if the barrels were easy to change out like the TC then XP100 might've been more popular.

Just so you have a clue as to what you are saying, the bolt on the real XP-100's is on the right side...perfect for a lefty. Savage made the Stryker, with the bolt on the left side, for right hand shooters.

I do believe the grips are somewhat ambidextrous on the XP. At minimum, you can get an ambi stock for it.
