Mini 14 Scope mounting

Can a scope be installed on a 183 series mini 14? It is not the ranch model. Thanks! PS, when was this one made? 183-935xx

Yup - several companies make (or made) plates that replace the side plate (that covers the bolt hold open) that have threaded holes, then a mount is affixed to it.

Had a RamLine one in the early 90s, worked OK but the bridge cracked. B-Square I think is the other company, their product is metal (RamLine was plastic) and should work good.

I mounted the scope above the ejection port (I have the Ranch) and it beat the crap out of the scope. Mine the reticle started to spin clock wise.

I went with the Ultimak and mounted the scope "Scout" style. Never had any issue where the scope got beat up again.

Not so much an issue with teh "replace a side plate" mount- the actual mount part puts a bridge over the ejection port, which protects the scope.

You can get a buffer for the ranch rifle that cushions the operating rod and receiver collision.
