Help when a Colt Army Special was Made

I picked up a Army Special 32-20 SN 547XX any idea how to find out when it was made? last patent on barrel was July 4, 1905 thank for any help

    Army Specials started at 291,000 in 1908. The serial number range was continued from the New Army and Navy models. These were first made in the 1880's/90's time frame.

    If your serial number is in the 547,000 range probably dates to the late 20's. When the Army Special name was change to Official Police.

    Yes, but from the OP, 54700 is not an Army Special number. Has he dropped a decimal point and meant 547000? (Hate those Xs.)

    I can see special on the barrel maybe a police positive special was told it was a army last patent date is 1905

    54,732 would be a Police Positive Special made in 1912. Physical size wise. The frame on the Army Special, would be substantially bigger. Than the Police Positive Special.
