vintage S&W box info

i know you guys can help! got a S&W blue box and need to know what it goes to. or what goes in it. its 12 in. long and 3 1/2 wide. serial number on the end reads TR8363. has the metal reinforced edges. thanks for any help.

Should be a label on it the describes the cal, model and barrel length.

The 3 1/2" width dimension points to it not being a handgun. If you have the S & W collectors book their is a section in the back regarding accessories and spare parts that S & W also sold. If your still having problems after consulting the book you might take photos of the box and post it to one of the specific S & W sites on the net.

With those demensions it sounds like a Smith knife box.

The TR prefix in the model does indicate the box is for a knife.
