Looks like a Dummy Round but isn't, so...

What is it? Looks like there is a screen inside. Bracket that held it even left a link looking mark. Any ideas before I scrap it?

    Sec-Amend,

    I have never seen one that looks exactly like yours, but it could be some kind of accumulator for an air conditioning system, or a hydraulic system. It may be a receiver/ dryer, for and air conditioner, or a filter for something else. A screen could be used in any of these things. Have you checked it for the path that air flows through it? Does it have any oil in it? Does it feel like it has a bag of desicant in it? Is there a check valve in it?

    Haven't seen a check valve or anything but what ever was in it stinks! I think you might be right about it being a dryer.
