FN barrel interchange?

I have a barrel originally made for a Weatherby FN (large ring 98) and would like to mount it on an action, but would prefer different actions. Will this barrel fit any other action without modification, or at least without making significant modifications to it?

You mean besides a different '98 Mauser (with due attention to headspace)?

    Not that I know of.

right, it will fit other large ring/large shroud 98s, but I am hoping that it may be possible to fit it to other actions such as Sakos, Savages, Rugers, etc.

According to DeHaas, no US brand rifle is threaded like a Mauser.

I don't know how deep the threads are, you MIGHT could get it on a Ruger 77 with a lathe.

IF the barrel is large enough at the chamber end you could cut the threads off and rethread. Other wise no, most other actions are 1.000" or larger, the mauser l.r. is 1.100". Not realy enought 'meat' to turn off threads and rethread.
