Looking at either a Dillon RL 550B or a RCBS Pro 2000. Am going to load rifle and pistol cartridges. Which one is the best in the experts opinion?

Hi: Have used the Dillon 550B but I own aRCBS pro 2000. The RCBS is the machine I would rather use and that is why I own one.

Go with the Dillon. Used mine for almost 20 years now WITHOUT a problem.

Thanks everyone. I know both are quality machines. Did not know if one had features that made it easier than the other. Good thing about all these replies; no one had anything BAD to say about either. Thanks again.

The Dillon 550 has to be the most popular progressive reloader there is, in my opinion, everyone I know who reloads has one.My personal advice would be if you are going to get a Progressive press, get a dillion, they a have a No BS lifetime warranty and it really is NO BS, try to find a used broke one cheap, and send it back to them, they'll fix it for free, only charge you for big missing parts, and you save abunch of money. But if you do buy a progressive press, any one of the, I still recommend that you also have a single stage press for backup incase if breaks, or if you buy the dies, and don't want to spend the money on a conversion plate for you progressive on other calibers.

SEA HUNT: I HAVE A DILLION 550B FOR THE 8 CAL. I RELOAD. BEST MACHINE ON MARKET AND BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. BUT INSTEAD OF A SINGLE STAGE PRESS, GET A TURRET FROM LYMAN OR SOME BODY THAT YOU INSTALL YOUR UNIVERAL DE-CAP DIE FOR CRIMPED IN MIL. BRASS AND THE BULLET PULLER WITH THE RIGHT COLLETS IN CASE YOU MAKE A MISTAKE.

Let me retract my previous statement. I think I was brain dead. The Grand is Shot- gun reloading. The Dillion and Rcbs 2000 are both good for pistol and rifle. The only reason I might go RCBS is because some years ago I bought and still use a CH pistol reloader and now it is harder to find parts. Big companies like Hornady and RCBS have been around a long time and parts are readily available.

If you aren't going to get a dillion. I prefer getting a Lee. Lee pressess are affordable, and they work. You can't beat what you get for the price. I've also had really good business with their warranties. Everytime something breaks I just send it back and they send me a new one.

If you do a search on these forums for reloaders you'll find an overwhelming support for Dillon. Personally I have a 550 and a 550B ... the 550 is over 10 years old and Ive never had a problem with it, same with the 550B but its only about 4-5 years old ... thousands upon thousands upon thousands of rounds loaded on both machines and I've never needed thier warrenty.

RCBS also has a "no BS" warrenty, I know because I recently needed a cap and powder funnel for one of their powder measurers (I also have an old single stage RL-3)... I called them up, told them what I needed and they wouldn't let me buy it ... they just sent it to me free of charge!

Both are quality companies so I wouldn't hesitate to buy anything from either. I'm not in the market for another reloader but I looked at a RCBS Pro 2000 that was set up recently and it looked un-necessarly complex ... but then as the owner of 2 Dillons I may have some bias.

Hornady has as good a warranty as the others and it AUTO INDEXES. I had a friend that had a RCBS and it was nothing but trouble and he got rid of it.
The primer strips kept jamming. He tried to get his money back all they would do was issue credit.
The shell plate was also much harder to change then the Hornady-Lock-N-Load.
You will find even Lee has a good warranty.
