I recently purchased a Mauser Model 98 with matching serial numbers and the code BNZ42 on the receiver. I found out that it mas made by Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, Steyr, Austria but am looking for more info. It has a eagle carrying a wreath with a swastika on the receiver also. Any help or advice woudl be appreciated!

Your weapon was made in 1942. Volumes have been written on the K98k.
The best one on your particular weapon is Law's "Backbone of the Wehrmacht" VOL.I. It will tell you everything you could want to know. There are a few K98k webrings around if you have a specific question.

Original, matching, non-recent-import rifles are hard to find now, so you have a aquired a nice weapon.
