Springfield Armory P9 40 S&W

I am considering the purchase of either the Springfield Armory P9 in either 9mm or 40 cal. S&W. I like the look and feel of the weapon and it seems to fit my budget. I would appreciate any feedback as to the quality, shooting characteristics and caliber recommendations for this gun. Pro-Con responses welcomed.

Edit: Don't want to mislead anyone. I have only seen the 40 and was talking with someone about the 9mm (have been advised it may not be available on the P9 and may be the EAA Witness). Still, any info on the 40 will be appreciated.

Just another clone of the CZ 75. Not particuliarly better or worse than the CZ. Just another.

The P9 is a Tanfoglio-made gun, just like the EAA Witness. The quality is the same, and I believe you will be satisfied.

Nothing against the P9 series in general. They are basically an EAA Witness. Given that, unless the P9 is extremely cheap, why not just look at the Witness. Springfield hasn't imported the P9 for a decade. I doubt they have much (if any) parts or or accessories for that series of pistol. If you bought a EAA Witness at least you'd have them, their warranty, and their parts and accessories to back it up.

The P9 was more expensive back in the day, but I don't think should bring much of a premium today over a Witness.

Again I have nothing against the P9, they are a very well made gun, just may not be a lot of factory (Springfield) support behind it. You don't mention the price, so it is difficult to say whether this is a good deal or not.
