Would value your opinion....looking for a "quality" scope (not the most expensive) and mounts for my Winchester model 88 and model 100....what do you think of the "marble" scope mounts also?...where you can shoot the sights rather than use the scope if you want....I want my guns to be quality all the way around...not cheapen by what I've described above....
Thanks

    Wayneo,

I have a few Marble's Game Getter "see-thru" mounts. They are very low quality bases/rings. Every set(3) has never lined-up properly. They've needed lapped and the screw holes on both the rings and bases needed re-aligned. (These were purchased for nostalgic's sake).

As far as the option to "go-to" open sites the window is quite small and the scope inhibits, as a peripheral distraction, the natural pointing when trying to get on game.

I do have a set of Leupold "Detacho" mounts on one of my 88's. The detacho mounts do offer the QD feature with levers and a tiny, non-adjustable peep is housed on the base, should you need to use it with the scope removed. You should be able to find a set for about $80.00 at a show.

I think that you need to either get a good Williams peep or a good scope with good mounts.

I put a Pentax Lightseeker 3x9 (gloss)with Conetrol Custum rings/bases(also gloss)on my 88/284 and I absolutely love it! Very sleek and very secure. Plus the Conetrol rings can be detached and re-attached to zero with practice. My second choice was the Bausch&lomb 3200 Rain guard series and Burris signature rings.
