I know reloading my own is the best way, but I dont have the time or patience.

What is a good commercial .40 ammo that is fairly inexpensive for shooting at the range?

Winchester White Box would be first at about $9 a box, Sellier & Bellot would be second at about $8.... I would avoid any of the steel cased ammo such as Wolf in pistols.

Why does everyone feel the need to burn that much powder?

I find that in my 4006, Winchester White box doesn't reliably eject; the extractor sometimes doesn't catch. I find that the American Eagle brand (Federal) works much better.

I can usually get Speer Lawman for that or less around here. You might also try American Eagle (Federal Budget). Both are good quality. Don't know the prices in your area but Winchester White, Speer Lawman, Fed. AE, and S&B. If you are political patriot, stick with the first three as the S&B is made in Bosnia or CZech-Rep, one or the other I think Bosnia.

Thanks richbug, ran out to my storage cabinet and looked on my boxes but didn't feel like updating. Isn't Magtech also Bosnian?
