I just bought one of these in 45 ACP. Got a good deal for $250 only about a box shot through it. Is there any mags made for this gun that hold more than 6 rounds?

What is the frame designation of a model 36 Chief Special S&W?

I don't know but I think a larger mag would stick out the bottom and make the gun less easy to conceal and that's the point to a small gun isn't it? These got bad reviews in the shooting magazine reports for bad accuracy. You may want to test yours to see how well it shoots.

You did get a good deal! Been looking for one myself, but can't bring myself to pay the $400 or so that most people are asking for a used one. Best pistol I ever shot was a CS-9. Worst mistake I made was selling it. Oh well. Needed the money. [:(] Let me know how it shoots. My 9 was as accurate as I was, and for a "small" gun, it fit my rather large hands perfectly. Great for carry!

Taxation WITH representation isn't so hot either!

Ampersand is correct, thats the only drawback Im aware of with the Chiefs Special is their compact size doesnt allow them to hold many rounds.

    Best!!

I'm not a S&W expert but I wonder if a 4506 mag might not work in it. That would give you 1 to 2 more shots. Might be worth a try.
