Will Acraglas hold a front sight on a hunting rifle? I shortened the barrel on my Rem 721 and I'm wondering if I can get away with just "glassing" the front sight on.

yes, for a 'while'. do it right and either screw it on or solder it on.

    Re : Acra glas use.
I have used this in the gel type
(green box ) to do projects like this. the way to make it work is to remove the blue from the bbl where it touches, any blue or anodize finish on the underside of the sight must be removed. Bright metal to bright metal to make strong and permanent ,also rough up or lightly groove the two surfaces, be sure to have it aligned right and clamp it tight overnite . It will stay from then on. I have found that if you leave the blueing on metal ,in time it will loosen.

If the barrel gets hot say good bye to the sight. Use high temp solder. Make sure you remove any bluing where the solder is going.
