4473 for TC Encore 209x50 Muzzleloader

Does a dealer have to use the 4473 firearm transfer papers for a TC 209x50 Muzzleloader? Or can it be sold like a primitive muzzleloader or airgun with no papers?

It can be sold like any other black powder muzzle loader. The use of a 209 shotshell primer, or percussion cap makes no difference.

I guess I forgot to state that it was an Encore, their break-open version. Didn't know if that made a difference.

I'm pretty sure that the frame has to be papered, if you can put a centerfire or rimfire barrel on it.

He Dog- The Encore receiver can use a modern centerfire barrel. Thus, it is legally considered a modern firearm, even when sold with a black powder barrel.

Oops! I did not catch the encore part, sorry! The other responders are correct, this will require a 4473 and can only be shipped to an ffl holder if you are having it shipped. Again my apologies.

    Hi there.......

Also to add why it needs a 4473 form is because it has a bolt, there for the ATF and most states concider it a bolt action rifle even though it is a muzzle loader......
