Sir, You seem to be the resident expert on the m1 garand. I got a Winchester M1 at an estate sale ser # 1499xx, bolt isD 28287-1WRA, OPRod is D 35382WRA, Hammer is D 45008-1WRA, Trigger housing is
D 28290WRA, rear sight is lockbar type, receiver group is marked D28291-2, the wood is in perfect shape (dark) with a VERY light SA mark on the left side and a P on the bottom. The bbl is SA 6535448
9 66 BU 34, The trigger guard is unmarked. The receiver group, stock group and trigger group fit together very well. Other than the stock and bbl, can you tell how close to original this is? What else do I need to look for? Could be somone started a restoration and lost interest? Thank you for any information you can provide.

Re; your note about nobody reading the stickies.
There are too many of them.
Which ones are really relevant to the form?

For many of the regulars on this forum, this will be very good news and a pleasant surprise... during this past weekend at the Big Reno gun show, I asked Mark (who is a personal friend of mine) to please consider returning to Gunbroker's Ask The Experts forum, and he graciously agreed to do so.

As many of you know, he is an extremely knowledgable firearms collector, and he can answer any and all questions concerning the M1 and several other military issue firearms. Mark is also very well versed in the current firearms regulations and laws, and is one heck of a nice man... I count myself lucky to be in his company, and I am extremely pleased to have him back. I am also positively sure that there are a large number of you who feel the same way.

For the very small number of you who do not agree with me, pay very close attention to what I am about to say!... I will not tolerate any personal attacks what-so-ever. Those who choose to ignore this warning will be dealt with very swiftly, and with no additional warnings or chances. All offensive posts will be deleted, and the offender will have his/her user account permanently locked.

    Welcome back Mark[^]

    Mark,

I found a Hensoldt 4x cammed for .308, but guy says he can get a .223 cam for $45. Any reason why you'd advise not going this route?

    Thanks,

    Rob

    Thanks if you can.

I noticed in the AR-15 thread that you mentioned you dealt out of OC. As a resident of Orange, I was curious what store you deal out of.

I apologize. I should of addressed Zipperzap for calling me sonny not you. Not that I took offense at him calling me sonny. I guess I owe everyone on that thread an apology. Next time I'll address the right person , and be sure to place a smile at the end. Thank you and I'm sorry.

And this has come to pass, not to stay.

Any chance you have a listing for cartridge interchangability and could post it. We had a 9x19 in a colt super and a 45acp in a 45 long colt thread. Don't want to see someone get hurt or blow themselves up.

    Mark,

Shot the PP today. Damn accurate at 7 yds. However it didn't seem to like Winchester white box ammo at all. Stovepipes, double feeds a-plenty. It chewed up the Sellier & Bellot with no problems. Did you have any such trouble? I guess I'll experiment with a couple of different brands and see if it's a universal problem or not.

I like to go to the " Ask The Experts" forum as a classroom and the " General Discussion " forum for enjoyment. Your response to the K43 Mauser question is why the forums are great. A new member, limited knowledge of firearms, no idea of value. As always, you gave a concise and informative exlanation. Keep it up. I'm always a little smarter after reading your posts. Thanks

You are the supreme authority on California gun laws, or so it appears to me from my lurking. [:D] I have a question concerning bringing a Colt Frontier Scout into the state. I know that I must register the revolver within a certain timeframe, but is a Scout even legal to own in the state? I don't find it in the laws and don't know if this type of revolver was drop tested by the state. Probably not. I inherited one from a relative and would like to bring it home. What do you think? Any other experts know? Replies would be appreciated.

You guys are way too kind! I have also learned a lot here on GB and our own moderator, Capt. Kirk, has an unbelievable firearms data base and a wealth of firearms knowlege. There are several other GB members who are also true experts in a particular firearms field and I never miss reading their posts. I'm leaving on vacation Sunday morning and won't return until 05 July so you won't be seeing me post for around 4 weeks.
