Are they any good? I think I rememebr reading on this board that they were generally liked, but are they comparable to Tascos, and other low end scopes, or are they better.
I have been wanting to get a 4 power scope, gun shop had a swift for $79-much less than the $200 plus Leupold I was looking at. Probably should go with the Leupold, but I would like to hear some opinions on Swift-thanks

I am looking at a 2-7x40mm for my Remington 742. How 'bout it optics guys. I did some research and they seem to be of good quality and reasonable price. Any pros or cons to help me make up my mind?

They are fair in good conditions but are poor in shadows and bad lighting. They are not in the same class as a Nikon Monarch or Leupold. It is my understanding they do offer good service. If it is for a hunting rifle, I would stay away from it. If it is for a .22 you plan on shooting cans with, then I would suggest buying it. You get what you pay for and you should spend more on your optics then your gun (at least I do).

I have 2 Swifts,1 3x9x40 and a 4x12x44AO,I have had the 3x9 for about 16 years. You could not ask for a more dependable scope, always clear and holds zero perfectly. Both scopes are on .243s and the older one has done it's part on taking nearly 100 deer.

Had one in 3x9. On a bright day it was fine. Didn't have much light gathering ability in low light conditions.

Good choice Salzo, Swift is decent for its price range, but is nowhere near top end. Hard to beat a Leupold, unless you get a Burris[}:)].
