What is the best method for shipping a SMG to it's new owner after ATF has signed off on the transfer? USPS? UPS? FEDEX?

I don't know what kind of gun you are called a "SMG", or if the recipient is an FFL. But, if it's mailable, USPS insured, signature required, would be the best way to send it.

UPS is the best way because it is traceable. USPS only offers tracking with their express service, which is very expensive.

SMG=Sub Machine Gun i.e; Uzi Class III. Machine gun will be going to a class III special Occupation Tax dealer after Batfe signs off on the transfer.

Your UZI is most likely considered a handgun under USPS regulations.

If you are not an FFL, you can only ship a handgun to a dealer by UPS or FEDEX Next Day Air.
