Recently I bought one of their rifles, 308 Win. The barrel is marked ALPHA ARMS, DALLAS, TEXAS. I can not seems to find out much information except that the company was in business from 1983 - 87. Any information would be helpful.

This is one of the probably 1/2 dozen small custom action makers that sprouted up in Texas in the 60's and 70's. This is a small amount of information but there isn't much that is easily available.

For those that want to see an example:

    From some previously gathered notes:

    Alpha Arms Model 1

This rifle was made by a Texas company in small numbers. The rifles were built specifically for the customer, and could be made in virtually any caliber imaginable, and with any barrel length from 20-24 inches. They could be in left or right-hand versions. The actions are made from stainless steel and Teflon-coated. The Model 1 versions are in the most common barrel-length (20 inches) and in the most common calibers.

The Model 1 Alaskan fires medium and large-caliber rounds. It has a stainless steel 24-inch barrel, a Nitex coating to the action instead of Teflon, and largely laminated-wood stocks (though some synthetic-stocked versions wre built to customer request.

"...All parts are silver Nitex finished including rear inletted sling swivel, pistol grip cap false floor plate, and trigger guard. 60 degree bolt throw and model 70 style safety. Alpha Arms are some of the highest quality production/custom rifles made. The stock contours are slim and make the guns very "lively"."

Thanks for the information. The rifle I bought has a two position safety on the right side of the receiver, a 20" barrel and the bolt release is exactly like that on a Sako rifle. There is no checkering on the stock and it seems to be solid wood, not a laminate or synthetic.

    jptatum,

Being a totally custom rifle, there would be a large variety of solutions. Here is the reverse side of the same Grand Slam showing the bolt stop:
