There might be proofmarks underside of barrel, but would be difficult to drive out the pins holding it to stock without some damage.
And it has an American look to me. Can't read name on the lock, but many gunsmiths used ready-made locks.
I agree it is a fowling piece (shotgun). The rings on the barrel indicate a civilian manufacture, not military. The marking on the end of the barrel suggest a European manufacture to me.
No offense, but it's of rather crude manufacture. It't might be homemade, or by the village blacksmith?
The markings on the lockplate might not be a indication of the actual manufacturer? It might have be purchased, or salvaged from another firearm.
The marking on the left side of the barrel is quite unique. I have never seen barrels marked in that location previously. Or that type of marking.
"94" doesn't appear to be a date? As 1894 would likely be to late for this type of percussion shotgun. Unless it comes from Appalachia?
