I just joined the group and so far am impressed. Now to my question. I am looking for a rifle strictly for investment, and leaning towards a mod 70 pre 64 super grade featherweight. I would like to know what year they started making the super grade, pre war, trnsition era ect. Are there any calibers that are worth more than others and is the combination super grade featherweight worth more than just the super grade. Any information on this and where I can pick one up would be greatly appreciated.

The Pre 64 Winchesters can be a good investment but if you are not very, very familiar with them the rare ones are the ones to stay away from until you are very comfortable about what you are buying. I would suggest getting a copy of the Rule book and or The Model 70 book by Dean Whitaker. I have spent quite a few years aquiring some very nice Pre 64's but you will find at least 4 or 5 fakes before you find a "real" very rare gun. Just my 2 cents.

    MONEY TALKS mine says good-bye
