On the upper part of the trigger on the Orion shotgun there is a button that slides to the left and right. It is not a saftey. I didn't get a manual with this gun to find out what this does. Any help would be appreciated.

I inherited a Weatherby Orion O/U shotgun from my father-in-law. It is a 12Ga, 26", S & S. Serial number is E0061XX. Does anyone know when this gun may have been manufactured? I'd also like to find a replacement barrel that can accept chokes. The current barrel is not threaded. Does anyone know where I could purchase?

    Any suggestions and information appreciated.

The Weatherby Orion's seem to be fairly priced. Does any one know who makes them and if they are any good?

    Thanks,

I purchased a gold sporting clays model several years ago, I can tell you it is an SKB design, who was sold to... who was bought by...

The stock cracked the 3rd time out, the firing pin broke the 5th time out, after waiting 6.5 months for the pin from Weatherby CA I have not fired it since. Good luck.

The Weatherby Orion I bought new in the spring of 1991 lasted until 3 weeks before pheasant season opened in 1991, when it started firing both barrels with 1 trigger pull. It had never been fired with anything heavier than a standard skeet load (about 1500 rounds).
At the skeet/trap club I belonged to at that time, every Orion there did the same thing.
When I contacted Weatherby about getting it repaired, they told me (in a "we don't care" about your broken gun attitude) 8-10 weeks after it arrived to repair it, and it took them 4 weeks to get a shipping box to me.
I traded it in on a used Browning Cetori (GTI), and the Browning hasn't had a single malfunction yet (with over 50K rounds fired thru it).
The "Quality" and "Attitude" at Weatherby may have gotten better, but I'll never even consider another Weatherby product.

Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

I have been shooting quite a bit of Skeet and didn't want a "me too" gun. A friend suggested a Weatherby. Here in Georgia, Walmart sells the upper grade Weatherby for around $1300. Lower grade is $1050. Used ones seem to be real cheap on the auctions. Geuss this is why.

    Thanks,
