I recently picked up a few 4 ga. shotshells loaded with BB shot. The head of the paper shell is stamped Eley -Nobel with a no. 4 The side of the shell is marked Eley-gastight and says metal lined cartridge case.I am curious as to the age and if they have any collector value. The orange/red colored shell appears to be faded but in otherwise excellant condition.Any info. would be appreciated.Thanks. Nice purchase!!!! The Eley 4 gauge "Gastight" shells will fetch $30 and up, especially if they are loaded. The Brits continued to produce "punt gun" shells after the use of such firearms was stopped in the US by the Migratory Bird Act and the "Nobel" portion of the headstamp probably means post war production. But they didn't make many of them and they are definitely a scarce and valuable collectible - even NPE, fired empties and reloads bring decent money.
