Win Model 12, 16 barrel, pump/slide assembly

I have an old Win Model 12, 16 ga and have also acquired an extra modified barrel w/extension tube. The tube needs to be screwed down on the extension tube about a 1/4 inch more to line up the sights, but it seems very tight (compression threads?) and may need to be done by a gunsmith. Your thoughts?

Also, I want to be able to just twist this second barrel onto the Model 12, so I think it would be best to locate and install an entire slide/pump assmebly including the shell cutoff and a second forend assmebly. What do you think and where should I look for the parts? I am thinking it may be best and less expensive to just buy another old Model 12 for parts. I could also disassemble the origianl barrel from the pump assembly and then reinstall it on the second barrel, but it seems like that would take a bit of time and effort, right?

Thanks,
Dave

you need a special tool to install a barrel on a m-12 receiver extnsion as the threads are very tight. with the price of m-12 small gauge parts now days it would probably be cheaper to buy another shotgun.

I agree with Mike. Not only do you have to have the receiver extention bottomed out on the barrel with the timing marks aligned, the adjusting sleeve must be put on and should be flush with the end of the barrel. then you run into the head space issue with the barrel chamber ring. I suggest you contact Andy of Andy's Custom Shop, www.andyscustomshop.com Andy has done some fantastic work on my Md 12s. He specializes in the repair and restorations of pre64 winchesters. good Luck Regards Dave
