Does anyone in here know if any of the major manufacturers:ie Ruger,Savage,remington,Winchester,have plans on producing a short-action carbine in these calibers? The .243 especially looks like it could cover an even wider variety of game.

    It's my understanding Winchester is having severe throad erosion problems with the .243 WSSM, as it is overbore for the caliber. They are still working on the problem - don't look for one just yet.
    The same may hold true for the .223.
