Does anyone have any experience with the Dan Wesson Patriot model? I have been looking for a good 1911 and the DW seems to be a lot of gun for the price. I have found a patriot in stainless steel (fixed sights) for $650. If you have any thoughts/opinions please let me know. Thanks!

BTW, I did a search and gleaned lots of good info about the DW overall. Just didn't find anything specific about the Patriot series. Thanks!

DWs are a good value for the money. If the model you are looking at satisfies most all of your requirements as is, you probably can't do much better. I say most because dedicated 1911 shooters are still going to customize their production guns. If I recall correctly practically every gun in this price range lacks an ambi safety, the one feature I need. Fortunately they aren't expensive to add.
