Bolt finish on Remington 600??

I recently aquired a Remington 600 in 350 Rem Mag. The bolt is a bit dirty and has the usual wear marks on the bolt. I am looking to polish it and make it look like new, but dont want to distract from the value. Does anyone know what the bolts looked like new? From the pictures that I've seen they look like they came in a polished chrome like finish. NAy help would be great.
