Remington 722 B grade ?

I was moving several rifles from one cabinet to another and came across the original stock for my 722 Rem 222. I noticed it was checkered and marked with a "B" just ahead of the action in the barrel grouve. I also noted the sling studs are a later design (not matching the 722 257 roberts I have) and the recoil pad is an older rubber "whiteline" model. I can find no markings on the barrel or action. My question would be is this a "B" grade Rem. ? Possible value on or off the rifle ?

There were two models of the 722 that were checkered...the 722ADL and 722BDL. The BDL had better wood.

The checkered stocks are more desireable than the plain jane versions, which are mostly what you see offered these days. The checkered stock alone will bring $100-$150 or more, but I would keep it to restore the rifle to original if it is sold or passed down. It will certainly have more value original and complete than wearing a replacement stock.
