I would like opinion on quality of and ability to make the CZ550, in 30-06, a good accurate hunting rifle. Is the overall quality of the rifle up to the standards we are use to here in the states? Thanks

I have the 550 in 9.3mm and it is a great value. Kind of like the ruger, not as polished as the winchester, but strong, well built and good hunting gun

Yep, and you shouldn't have to do much by way of "making it" into a good solid hunting rifle.

Is the CZ-550 UP to the standards we are used to??????? You should wish that the second rate garbage rifles made in this country would approach the quality of the CZ's.

Dollar for dollar the CZ beats the offerings from Rugremchestage hands down. That's not to say that they couldn't use a little "beautification" (the name engraved in the side rail is a little excessive), but at least they give you a honest rifle and a great trigger.

I have Winchester, Remington and Ruger and neither is up to the quality of the CZ 500 in 30/06 that I have. The Ruger is not all that accurate, the Remington is after glass bedding and load work. The Winchester is accurate but it is an old model. The wood and metal work was never that great on it. When I first got the CZ I couldn't wait to try it out so I poppped an old Simmons scope on it that had been sitting around for years and took it to the range. I took some old ammo that I intended to just shoot to get rid of because I had lost the load data. First 3 shots at 100 yeards were one ragged hole. The 4th and 5th shots opened the group to a whopping .758" group. I then tried some Wal-Mart Remington factory loads(the cheap stuff) and they went into a .970" group. Went back home and got some 175 grain match ammo and shot a .51 group. It now has a Burris scope on it which I intend to take to the range in a few days and try again and see if it will shoot. I think I will keep it.

Don't stop there - they make a great rimfire rifle in the various 452 models & I think their 97B pistol is the best for DA 45 ACP. I like my Rems & Savages & Colts, but CZ is at least their equal or better.
