In Theory vs. Actual Range Experience (slugs)

OK folks... I am led to believe that Remington fully rifled slug barrels were designed for and primarily meant for sabot slugs. My question is this: Should not the older style Foster type slug (often marketed as the 'rifled slug' because of the riffs along the side of the bullet that supposedly give it rotational spin due to air resistance) group tighter in a rifled barrel, versus a smoothbore slug barrel? If so, what have you gentlemen/lady shooters experienced at 50 yds and 100 yds, with all other factors being equal? Note: I am not interested in how tightly the sabots group in the rifled barrel, I want to know how the foster slugs performed for you in the rifled barrel, versus how they grouped with a smoothbore slug barrel. Anybody know of a good article on this topic? Thanks for your help. RC
