Here's one for the Rem. guys. My pop bought me this shotgun for Christmas ,when i was 13 yo. That would make it roughly 31 years old. I looked in the auctions and even did a search for one and got no responces.. Was,and is this considered a POS firearm, or is it worth rebluing and keeping? It was left on a flooded carpet years ago for a week or so before i fould it,the rust isn't that bad (suprisingly)And only on the outside.ANy help or opinions would be deeply apreciated, since it is the first shotgun that ever belonged solely to me ... Thanx in advance.

    The Mohawk 48 is a good solid shotgun, well worth keeping. I'd clean the rust off with fine steel wool and oil, then evaluate whether it needs rebluing. It's not a gun I'd spend a lot on (except for sentimental reasons). I'd keep it regardless of condition. First guns are special.

    It's truly amazing Mr.Walker... The very minute i began steel wooling the rust off this Rem. a flood of memorys came rushing back to me ..
    That Christmas seems like yesterday.I opened that green box, hugged pop's neck and we ran to the barn for our Carharts and hip-boots. 10 Min later we were in the blind ,with the last few flights of Pintails of the season coming under this beed.My wife walked in the room and asked "what's wrong"? Thats when i noticed the tears streamin' down my face...
    You're right MR.... First guns are specail, and i'll keep it.....
