Has anyone tried the Indian .308 surplus ammo that everybody is selling now? Understand they had some quality control problems.

I and a friend have several thousand rounds of it. We are shooting it through cetmes, fals, g3s, enfield 308s, and other 7.62 nato rifles. It is in 50 cal ammo cans with 540 rounds per can in 10 round packs. If it is the same stuff as they are selling now, we have had no problems. Got ours 1 to 2 years ago. Have not had a round to not go off that I can remember nor has my friend mentioned any problems. I have not checked on what they are selling it for now but we got this for less than 10 cents a round by buying in huge bulk! Would buy more if we could get it for that price again.

It seems to me that I have shot some of this ammo without problem. Most military ammo that is not a million years old or has been improperly stored will usually be alright in my experience.

Have a couple cans here, 98 headstamp... fired 10 clips out of my imbel FAL had 2 case failures. Cases broke neatly in half upon extraction just below the shoulder. The case piece came out when I cleared the gun on the subsequent rounds bullet. The lower half of the case went into orbit which suggests an overcharge to me as the rest of the brass was going 5 feet. The bullets are seated unevenly in the canalure. The brass looks really nasty for being 5 years old, but is boxer primed. There must be a reason that the Indian are dumping such new ammo??????????? Ammunitionstore.com has it for $119/k
Guy at a match yesterday was shooting it through an Israeli HB FAL and had no problems but accuracy. 200 plus rounds to knock down 35 plates at 200 yards.

Gotta wonder why a guy is shooting mil-surp ammo in match competition?
