Looking to buy a second AK style weapon..The Vepr and the Hungarian Ak rifles are priced about the same,(upper 500.00 range)...What do you all think about quality and long tem performance of these two rifles...... Thanks and I will look forward to the responses.......

I'm only going from what I've read, but the vepr is built on a rpk receiver so it's going to be stronger (and heavier) than a standard ak. So longevity shouldn't be an issue. From what I hear the quality is good. Don't know much about the Hungarians.

I love my Vepr K. Never have had an issue with it. It is heavier than a regular AK, as mentioned. I find it to be somewhat more accurate than my SAR-1, too.

Check out http://www.robarm.com/RA_vepr_akrpkcomp.htm for a comparison of receivers.

". . . let me forget about today until tomorrow"

I have a Hungarian AK that was given to me and I have put thousands of rounds thru it without cleaning it (i know) and never had a problem. I use Wolf or Bear ammo from Russia I'm doing a scientific test to see how long I can shoot it without cleaning it!
I am not a big assault rifle fan so I do not care about it too much but it's a workhorse! (and fun)

Ted Kennedy's car has killed more people than my gun has!
