I know this is probably not enough
to go on but thought I'd give it a
shot anyway.A buddy called last night
wondering when this gun was made and
it's value.Serial # 249614-c,nickle
plated,ivory grips(he thinks).
supposed to be "Just Like Patton's".
Maybe I'll get to see it this weekend
if more info is needed.Supposed to be
in 98% condition.

IT'S WHAT PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THEMSELVES THAT MAKES THEM AFRAID.

Made in 1951, Value depends on condition and originality. Early post war FACTORY ORIGINAL nickel plated .45's, would command a premium.

Get a factory letter! If the gun is original as stated, it has substantial value. Factory ivory stocks alone would be worth more than most guns. As r-s says, factory nickel guns of this vintage also command a premium, a quite substantial premium. If it is not original, it is just another altered Colt that helps increase the value of the original guns. It is most likely the latter, but the chance it is an original gun is intriguing.
